For Research that Delivers Change

In the social sector, the lack of evidence often hampers effective decision-making. We need more research at different locations and scales to inform policies and programmes.

However, the questions scientists and researchers investigate are often different from those development practitioners, communities, or governments want answered.

The India Research Corps seeks to bridge this gap by sourcing research questions from government agencies and nonprofits, and matching them with research scholars.

While practitioners may not always be able to fund research, universities have students available and willing to answer research questions. We foster partnerships between the two to ensure that research results in impact on the ground.

Water, Environment, Land, and Livelihoods

While the India Research Corps seeks to build evidence across thematic areas, it currently focuses on water and its intersections with environment, land, and livelihood issues.

Rural Water and Climate Impacts

Water management for agricultural needs and its impact on rural livelihoods

Hydrology and Watershed Management

Interventions and programmes to ensure water security

Urban Water and Climate Impacts

Water management for water-secure and flood-resilient cities

Research for Impact

We have facilitated research on canal irrigation, water user cooperative societies, and village-level weather forecasting, among other topics, to enable organisations to make better decisions.

The India Research Corps is part of the Platforms and Partnerships programme at WELL Labs

WELL Labs is transforming water systems at scale across India through research, partnerships, and collective action.
